Update: Agoura Hills Runner 'Lucky to Walk Away' After Boston Marathon Blasts

Runner Courtney Kershaw, who was running for Boston Medical Center, said she was 2-3 minutes from the finish line when the explosions occurred.

UPDATED April 16, 8 p.m.

"I  am fine. I was very very close to the finish when the explosions went off 2-3 min from finishing. However i am lucky to walk away with no injury," Agoura Hills resident Courtney Kershaw wrote in an email to Agoura Hills Patch.

Ironically, Kershaw was running to raise funds for Boston Medical Center, which specializes in trauma and emergency services, Kershaw wrote.

"The runners in my wave were running for charity, for their community, to support a cause-- why anyone would do this is incomprehensible," she wrote.

Kershaw said that the "focus should be on those injured, their families, and the long road they have ahead ... and to contribute to the medical center."

Details about the sources of the explosions have yet to be confirmed. However, CNN reported that the area was being investigated as a crime scene and the Associated Press reported that two non-detonated improvised explosive devices were found along the race route.

The Boston Police Department announced during a press conference that a third explosion took place at the JFK Library, several miles from the finish line.

More than 20,000 runners officially entered this year's race.
