City Will Appoint Northrup Replacement, Avoid Costly Special Election
The city of Agoura Hills voted to open applications for Linda Northrup's replacement after the former mayor resigned on Aug. 15.

AGOURA HILLS, CA — The city of Agoura Hills will appoint a replacement for Linda Northrup, who recently resigned from city council, to avoid an expensive and slow special election.
Northrup resigned from her city council seat on Aug. 15 after finding breast cancer recovery more difficult than expected, she said in a letter to her colleagues. Northrup was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020.
The city on Wednesday opted for an appointment process over a special election, which would cost at least $200,000 and couldn't start until at least March, the Acorn reported.
