​1 Killed In Shooting At Illegal Bay Area Nightclub

The victim was declared dead by medical personnel who were called to the scene, according to the Oakland Police Department.

OAKLAND, CA — A person was shot and killed early Sunday morning at an illicit nightclub in Oakland's Highland neighborhood.

Oakland police responded to a ShotSpotter activation, which detects gunshot acoustics, at about 3:45 a.m. in the 900 block of 85th Avenue, about a mile east of Oakland Arena.

Officers who arrived found one person who had been shot at an illegal nightclub that was operating in the neighborhood, which has a mix of residences, churches, commercial and industrial spaces, according to Google Maps.

The victim was declared dead by medical personnel who were called to the scene, according to a news release from the Oakland Police Department.

Police detained dozens of people at the illicit nightclub but there was no announcement of any arrests.
