State Grants $44.5 Million for Supportive Housing at Alameda Point (alamedapost.com) — Alameda just secured a $44.5 million state grant to build supportive housing at Alameda Point, expand electric ferry charging, and strengthen anti-displacement services. The funding jump-starts the Stardust Gardens project for formerly homeless residents and upgrades local bike, pedestrian, and ferry infrastructure, aiming to keep more people stably housed in Alameda while cutting emissions.

East Bay's small Frame1A Gallery making big splash in area photo scene (eastbaytimes.com) — A new photography gallery just east of downtown Alameda is giving emerging Bay Area photographers a place to show their work, with a small but active space on Central Avenue. Faster, cheaper homes: Alameda County taps Oakland firm to advance SHIFT housing pilot (localnewsmatters.org) — Alameda County is moving ahead with its SHIFT housing pilot, hiring Oakland-based Inspired ADUs to design pre-approved, lower-cost infill housing on small or irregular parcels. The three-year effort aims to speed affordable construction for moderate-income families and could shape future projects in cities across the county, including Alameda, by streamlining approvals and funding.
   

5. 'We Fight Back.' Alameda Officials Rally Against VA's Cancellation of Veterans Projects (alamedapost.com) — Alameda leaders are pushing back after the VA abruptly canceled long-planned plans for a veterans health clinic and cemetery at Alameda Point, shifting focus to Oakland and possibly San Francisco instead. At a press conference, Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft, regional officials, and veterans urged residents to pressure federal VA leaders and support efforts to restore the projects that would bring care and burial options closer to Alameda families.
