2 Alameda Schools Make AP Honor Roll
This new award recognizes schools for their commitment to improving college readiness through AP courses.
ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda High School and Encinal High School were named to the AP School Honor Roll, a new designation given to schools that show a commitment to maximizing college readiness.
The schools were two of 4,570 schools around the country that made the honor roll. Alameda High School received a Silver with Access designation, meaning it has demonstrated a “clear and effective commitment to equitable access to advanced coursework.” Encinal High School received a Silver designation.
The award was created in October 2023 to recognize schools that “reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.”

The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
To be recognized, schools needed to fulfill the following metrics —

- 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least one AP exam during high school
- 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam
- 2% or more of the graduating cohort took five or more AP exams during high school, at least one of which was taken in 9th or 10th grade.
