​2 Face Attempted Murder Charges In Shootout At Oakland Market

Prosecutors said there were five victims in the shooting. Investigators recovered 45 bullet casings and two firearms.

OAKLAND, CA — Two men face attempted murder charges in connection with a shootout at an Oakland market, Alameda County prosecutors said.

Keeric Lamont Johnson, 23, and Joshua Smiley, 19, are accused of taking part in the Feb. 19 shootout at the Al-Awdis Mini Market on West Street, the district attorney's office said Friday.

Prosecutors said there were five victims in the shooting. Investigators recovered 45 bullet casings and two firearms.

Johnson and Smiley are charged with attempted murder, assault with a semiautomatic firearm and shooting into an inhabited dwelling. Two juveniles were also charged, according to the district attorney's office.

Johnson is also accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm, while Smiley is accused of carrying a concealed firearm.

If convicted of all charges, each faces more than 37 years in prison, prosecutors said.
