UPDATE: 2-Alarm Fire Damages 2-Unit Home on San Jose Avenue
Five people were displaced from their homes, but no injuries were reported.

A two-alarm fire Saturday afternoon at a two-story, two-unit residence at 2050 San Jose Ave. (between Chestnut and Willow streets) displaced five people and caused nearly a half million dollars' worth of damage, Alameda Fire Department officials said.
Occupants were able to evacuate themselves from the building safely and no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported, they said.
Fire investigators believe an electrical power cord in a second-story bedroom caused the blaze, AFD Capt. James Colburn said.
Damage to the building is estimated at $400,000, with an additional $70,000 in damage to the contents, he said.
The fire was brought under control at 5:25 p.m., Colburn said.
Firefighter/Public Information Officer Jose Medrano said the fire was reported at 4:02 p.m. Saturday and firefighters arrived on the scene at 4:06 p.m.
The fire went to two-alarm status at 4:11 p.m., he said.
Six engines, three fire trucks, one medical unit and two chiefs responded, Medrano said. A total of 37 firefighters were called to the scene.
The Oakland Fire Department assisted.
Although a power line was down close to the burned building, that was not related to the cause of the blaze, Medrano said.
The American Red Cross is aiding the displaced residents, he said.
