9 Charged In Series Of Burglaries That Ended In Fatal Shooting Of Oakland Officer
A federal grand jury indicted the defendants on drug and conspiracy charges, authorities said.

OAKLAND, CA — Seven people have been indicted on drug and conspiracy charges in connection with a series of armed burglaries that ended with the death of an Oakland police officer in 2023, federal prosecutors said.
Two other people are facing charges for trying to help the officer's killer avoid being arrested, according to the United States Attorney's Office.
Allen Brown, Sebron Russell, Marquise Cooper, Janiero Booth, Jowaun Jones, Shawn McGee, and Salvador Munguia are accused of taking part in at least three armed burglaries at marijuana grow facilities in Oakland in late December 2023.

The suspects were in their third marijuana grow facility around 4 a.m. on Dec. 29, 2023, when undercover Oakland Police Department officers, including Tuan Le, arrived at the scene, authorities said.
The suspects ran off in several directions, but one of them, who is only described in the indictment as an unnamed co-conspirator, pulled out a gun and aimed it at the officers' unmarked undercover car, federal prosecutors said.

At least two suspect cars drove off from the scene, and the undercover officers, including Le, gave chase, federal prosecutors said.
But following the officers was Brown. At some point, someone in Brown's passenger seat then fired over 20 rounds toward the undercover vehicles, striking and killing Le, federal prosecutors said.
The suspected killer's girlfriend, Jasmine Kumar, and his mother, Felicia Sanders, then helped them avoid arrest by buying them a one-way plane ticket, federal prosecutors said. It's unclear where the plane ticket was to.
