Alameda County Man Who Trafficked Guns From Texas To California Sentenced: DOJ

OAKLAND, CA — A Bay Area man who trafficked guns and illegally sold guns on social media has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, according to the United States Attorney's Office.

Federal prosecutors say that from August 2020 to December 2021, Robert Earl Davis traveled from California to Texas, where he'd purchase guns, and then ship them back to the East Bay.

He'd then advertise and sell the guns through social media, according to authorities. During this time, Davis trafficked and sold dozens of guns, many of them illegal to possess in California, federal prosecutors said.

After serving a warrant at his home, they found at least a loaded 5.7 mm gun hidden in a hole in the wall. Between searching his home and vehicle, authorities also found hundreds of rounds of ammunition, according to federal prosecutors.

Following his arrest, Davis was charged with one count each of dealing firearms without a license, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition as a felon and possession and shipping of firearms.

A jury found him guilty during a week-long trial of all the counts, except possessing and shipping firearms, according to authorities.

In addition to the 10-year prison sentence, a judge sentenced Davis to three years of supervised release, according to federal prosecutors.
