Alameda Crashes Drop 89 Percent Following Police Crackdown: APD

The police department reallocated personnel to increase traffic patrols.

ALAMEDA, CA — The Alameda Police Department reports that traffic collisions declined 89 percent in a single month after it dedicated additional patrol units to help APD’s Traffic Division.

"The responsibility of these patrol units was to focus on the enforcement of violations that are the leading causes of crashes," the department said in a social media post.

Feedback from residents on the social media post was mostly positive, with commenters grateful for the steep decline in wrecks.
