Alameda in the News: Bus Stops, Julia Morgan Home, Speisekammer

Here's a look at some recent reports on Alameda:

Proposed bus stops in front of Christ Episcopal Church (Santa Clara Avenue at Grand Street) and at Dan Francisco's hair salon (Santa Clara at Caroline Street) got thumbs down from Alameda's Transportation Commission last week, The Alamedan reports. A number of speakers at the commission meeting opposed the stops.The new bus stops were part of a package of changes to AC TRansit's 51A bus line, most of which were okayed by the commission. AC Transit officials said they would drop plans for the two new stops.

Many Alamedans will enjoy watching a segment about Speisekammer when it eventually airs on the Food Network show "Mystery Diners," but neighbors weren't happy about the parking situation during recent filming at the Lincoln Avenue restaurant and beer garden, insidebayarea.com reports.
