The Alameda City Council Tuesday night approved a lobbying contract with former State Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata and agreed to move ahead with two special tax districts that would allow the city to levy extra taxes on Alameda Landing businesses and residents to pay for city services, The Alamedan reports. Alameda resident Tracey McCormick will receive a California Emergency Medical Services Award today (Wednesday) in San Francisco for her actions in helping to rescue a family of four trapped when their car went into the water off Doolittle Drive last June, insidebayarea.com reports.
