ALAMEDA, CA — Love them or hate them, Peeps — that sugary, cavity-inducing treat that shows up every spring — is the focus of Alameda Free Library's sweetest competition, the Peep Diorama Contest.

Held annually around Easter, the competition is open to all, the Alameda Free Library announced in a news release issued last week.

"The Alameda Free Library is giving Peep-le of all ages an excuse to play with their food," the news release said. "For this annual contest, design and construct a diorama featuring Peeps marshmallows as the characters."
