Alameda Police Department Now Accepting Internship Applications
Numerous departments offer internships for high school students including the City Manager's Office, Fire Department and IT Department.
ALAMEDA, CA — The Alameda Police Department is now accepting applications for its 2023 paid summer internship program, the agency announced today.
"The APD’s paid internship program will give students the opportunity to work closely with public safety staff while supporting the community of Alameda," APD said in a Twitter posting announcing the application period.

Police interns will work in a pair from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday for two weeks and will rotate through four to six departments within the Police Department.

Students will learn about various functions within the department by shadowing a crime scene analyst, working with the community Outreach Department, observe dispatch and will complete administrative duties.
The city also has openings for high school interns in other departments including Community Development, City Manager's Office, Finance, Fire, Information Technology, Library, Planning, Building & Transportation and Recreation & Parks.

"This is a great opportunity to learn about city government, so don’t miss out," the city said.
To be eligible for an internship, applicants must be a resident of the city of Alameda, be at least 16 years of age, be currently enrolled in high school and must be able to obtain a valid school work permit.
Salary range for Interns is $15.75 per hour, and interns may work up to a maximum of 100 hours, the city said, adding that applications will only be accepted online.
Applications are due no later than May 15, the city said.
