Alameda Star Student Finds Creative Solutions
Annie not only identifies needs, she finds a way to create and implement solutions so that other folks can live better lives.

ALAMEDA, CA —Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Lynn Kameny who nominated Annie, a 12th grade (Senior) of Alameda.

How do you know the star local student?
I was her teacher in high school
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Annie's dream is to help first generation students and their families like hers to have access to financial literacy tools. She has already started up multiple businesses including one during the pandemic that helped families whose primary caregiver had cancer get services such as food and clothing. She has been to Congress to advocate for girls to have access to menstrual products in schools, as equity for young women is another primary focus for her. These examples are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Annie!
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Annie not only identifies needs, she finds a way to create and implement solutions so that other folks can live more productive and humane lives.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Annie!
