AUSD Welcomes Six New Administrators As New School Year Begins

The six come from diverse educational experiences but "are committed to equity and excellence for all students," AUSD said.

ALAMEDA, CA —Alameda Unified School District is welcoming six new site administrators to its ranks as the school year gets into full swing, the district said in an online news release.

Mark Figueras Segado, Bryan Dunn-Ruiz, Dr. Tri Nguyen, Karen Ringewald, Jessica Siebert and Juan Flores all come from diverse educational experiences but "are committed to equity and excellence for all students," AUSD said in the news release.

Segado, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and Master of Arts in teaching, is the new assistant principal at Love Elementary School. He most recently worked as assistant principal at Kipp King Collegiate High School in San Lorenzo.

Segado who also holds a second Master of Arts in educational leadership previously taught social studies at Kipp NYC College Prep in the Bronx, New York and Leadership High School in San Francisco.

Dunn-Ruiz, who holds a Bachelor of Science in anthropology, is the new principal at Earhart Elementary School. Prior to accepting his new position at Earhart, he taught fifth grade at the school.

Dunn-Ruiz, who also holds a Master of Arts in educational leadership and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential also worked as a principal at Corvallis Elementary School in San Lorenzo and a literacy/TSA reading intervention teacher at Dayton Elementary School in San Lorenzo.

Nguyen, who holds both a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and communication and a Master of Arts in education joins Paden Elementary School as its new principal. He most recently served as principal and assistant principal at Luther Burbank School in San Jose.

Prior to his time at Luther Burbank, Nguyen, who earned his Doctorate of Education from San Jose State University, was vice principal at Belle Haven School in Menlo Park and taught at the middle and elementary levels.

Ringewald, who has her Bachelor of Arts in government and Master of Public Administration, will serve as Principal at Maya Lin Elementary School. She most recently served as principal and assistant principal at Aspire Triumph Technology Academy in Oakland. Before that, she was the dean of students and after school director at Aspire Triumph Technology Academy and Millsmont Academy in Oakland. She also taught sixth grade in Los Angeles.

Ringewald also holds her Master of Arts in educational leadership and a Master of Education in instructional leadership from Reach Institute.

Siebert will serve as Assistant Principal at Ruby Bridges Elementary School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies, a Master of Arts in teaching and a Mild to Moderate Education Specialist Credential.

Most recently, Siebert, who also minored in biology, was a program specialist and teacher on special assignment for MTSS at Piedmont Unified School District in Piedmont. Before that, she was a resource specialist at Lighthouse Community Charter School in Oakland and a kindergarten teacher in Oakland.

Juan Flores, who holds a Bachelors of Arts degree and a Masters Degree in educational leadership, has been named Acting Principal at Ruby Bridges Elementary School. He has been a substitute administrator with AUSD in recent years. Before that, he was a principal in Hayward Unified School District and an assistant principal in Castro Valley Unified School District.
