Break Out Those Bikes And Get Ready For Alameda's Family Fun Ride

The bicycling event will take riders on a scenic ride throughout the city for a fun, family-friendly event this weekend.

ALAMEDA, CA — Break out those bicycles and get ready for Alameda Bike for the Parks, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 30.

The 5-mile, one-way Alameda Bike for the Parks ride starts off at Lincoln Park, 1450 High Street, and meanders throughout the city eventually ending at Jean Sweeney Park, 1100 Atlantic Avenue.

On site registration for the free event opens at 9 a.m., the city said in a news release announcing the ride, adding that registration is open and available online now.

Riders will need to adhere to the "Rules of the Road" during the ride. which will depart from Lincoln Park at 10 a.m. and make its way up Southshore along the bay shore of Alameda with a scenic view of the San Francisco Bay.

"As the path traverses through Alameda, the riders will be able to get a view of the Oakland Estuary along the marina," the city said.

The path then proceeds to Alameda's newest addition to the parks system, Jean Sweeney Open Space Park where refreshments and entertainment await participants at the finish line, the city said.
