Ex-Alameda County Sheriff's Deputy Convicted Of Double Murder
Devin Williams was found guilty of going to the victims' house and killing them with his service weapon, officials said.
ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — A former Alameda County Sheriff's Deputy was convicted this week of first-degree murder for the shooting deaths of two people in September 2022.
Devin Williams was found guilty of going to the victims' house and killing them with his service weapon, according to a press release from the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors said Williams was in a romantic relationship with one of the victims, Maria Tran, who was still married to and living with her husband at a home in Dublin.

Williams went directly from his work at the sheriff's office to the couple's house and shot them to death.
Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price said she was thankful to prosecutors and jurors for the outcome.

"We recognize this horrific tragedy leaves a son without his parents and a community forever traumatized by this unacceptable and vicious home invasion attack on an unarmed and unsuspecting couple," Price said in a statement.
Williams faces 50 years to life in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 12.
