Grand Street Pavement Project Underway In Alameda
It will involve some temporary inconvenience, but the outcome will be positive in the long term.
ALAMEDA, CA — A five-month road construction project is underway in Alameda.
The Grand Street Safety Improvement and Pavement Resurfacing project is taking place between Shore Line Drive and Otis Drive, between now and September.
According to the City of Alameda, improvements on Grand Street include the following work:

- Concrete curb ramp reconstructed to ADA standards
- Concrete islands and medians for bus stops and crosswalks
- Concrete curb and gutter repairs
- Lowering of utility covers in street pavement
- Removal of full width of existing asphalt pavement
- Pavement base repairs
- Full width repaving
- Raising of utility covers to match with new street pavement
- Restriping of existing lane lines and new two-way bike path (adjacent to Wood School/Rittler Park side of Grand Street)
You should expect to deal with parking restrictions during daytime workhours on Grand Street, with some initial detours.
No overnight or weekend closures are planned.

If you are wondering where the money is coming from, the project is funded by Measure B/BB Local Streets and Roads, Measure B/BB Paratransit, TDA Article III, One Bay Area Grant (OBAG) federal monies, and General Fund balance.
