Grand Theft of Handguns, Neighbor Scares Off Car Burglar, Thief Takes Bike on Test Run and Doesn't Return
Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from March 14 to March 17. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Thursday, March 14
- 10:17 a.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 400 block of Central Avenue. A suspect obtained a victims ATM check card and pin number without her permission. ATM surveillance showed the suspect withdrawing money from victim's checking account.
- 11:44 a.m.: Burglary was reported on the 2000 block of Central Avenue An unknown suspect cut the padlock to a victim's carport storage unit and took her luggage without permission.
- 1:40 p.m.: Assault domestic violence was reported at Harbor Bay Parkway. A suspect became angry with a victim and punched the victim in the face.
- 3:48 p.m.: Grand theft from person was reported on the 400 block of Grand Street. An unknown suspect took a victim's cell phone from her back pocket and ran off.
- 6:51 p.m.: Grand theft bike was reported on the 1500 block of Park Street. A suspect took a bicycle for a test ride and never returned.
- 10:04 p.m.: Residential burglary was reported on the 3200 block of Fairview Avenue. Three unknown suspects made entry to the residence by forcing open the front door. Shortly after, the suspects were interrupted by the home owner and fled the scene in a mini-van which was parked in front of the residence.
- 10:52 p.m.: Grand theft was reported on the 1200 block of Charles Street. An unknown suspect stole three of the victim's handguns from his basement.
Friday, March 15
- 12 p.m.: Identity theft was reported at 50 West Hornet Avenue. Two suspects used a victim's bank card to make unauthorized payments for a storage unit in Alameda.
- 6:58 p.m.: Petty theft shoplifting was reported on the 2200 block of South Shore Center. A 45-year-old man was arrested. He entered a business, selected loss and walked out of the store without paying for the selected items. He was placed under citizens arrest by a witness.
- 8:10 p.m.: Petty theft from a vehicle was reported on the 1000 block of Pearl Street. An unknown suspect entered a victim's vehicle through an unlocked door. A neighbor who witnessed it yelled at the suspect from her residence. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled in the same vehicle he was seen arriving in. No loss/vehicle undamaged was reported.
- 9:19 p.m.: A suspect brandished a firearm at a victim on the corner of Park Street and Encinal Avenue. The victim felt threatened and feared for his safety.
- 11:10 p.m.: A 21-year-old man was cited on the corner of Park Street and Encinal Avenue for carrying a switchblade. He was contacted during a traffic enforcement stop and found to be in possession of a switchblade knife. He was issued a citation and released at the scene.
Saturday, March 16

- 3:28 p.m.: Petty theft was reported on the 700 block of Taylor Avenue. An unknown suspect stole numerous checks from inside a victim's apartment.
Sunday, March 17
- 5:33 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 900 block of Park Avenue.
- 3:09 p.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 1900 block of Shoreline Drive. A victim parked and locked her vehicle on a residential street. A suspect pried open the window to the victim's vehicle and gained entry. The suspect took property and fled with the loss.
- 4:30 p.m.: Petty theft shoplifting was reported on the 2200 block of South Shore Center. A 24-year-old woman was cited. She entered a business, selected merchandise, and left without paying. During her arrest, she lied about her identity to a police officer.
- 6:24 p.m.: Grand theft was reported on the 1800 block of Webster Street. An unknown suspect took a victim's property from in front of his storage unit and fled the scene.
