Heat Wave Expected To Continue Today

​The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area calls for the heat wave to continue Tuesday.

SAN FRANCISCO — The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area calls for the heat wave to continue Tuesday.

On the coast, daytime highs are expected to range from the 70s down the peninsula to the mid 90s. San Francisco could reach the low 90s near the bay shoreline, with highs in the low 100s down the peninsula and topping 105 in the South Bay and East Bay.

In the interior areas of the East Bay — where temperatures had only dropped to the low 80s at 2 a.m. Tuesday — daytime highs are forecast for 94 in Alameda, 96 in Berkeley, 100 in San Leandro, 101 in Newark and 103 in Union City, Castro Valley and Fremont.

Overnight lows are expected in the 60s and 70s.

Wednesday may see slightly cooler condition in most of the region, but many inland areas will see several more days of afternoon temperatures exceeding 100 degrees.
