CALIFORNIA -- Do you live in one of the most educated cities in California? WalletHub this week released its annual study of the country's most educated and least educated cities. The San Jose, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale region topped the list when it came to the Golden State, placing third overall in the country.

To determine where the most educated Americans are putting their degrees to work, WalletHub compared the 150 largest metropolitan statistical areas across 11 key metrics. The data included the amount of bachelor's degrees among those 25 and older and the quality of the public school system. The study also factored in the gender education gap.

For the San Jose, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale area, it was ranked third in "educational attainment" and sixth in "quality of education and attainment gap."
