OAKLAND, CA — Two drug dealers were arrested in the Bay Area thanks to a tip from a hotline, police said.

Oakland police say they received a tip about drug activity in the 2400 block of 77th Street in East Oakland on Saturday.

There, officers arrested two people — seizing weed and ecstasy pills that had been packaged for sale from one and weed from the other, the Oakland Police Department said in a statement Monday.

Both were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale, police said. Officers also seized a gun from a car that one of the suspects had the keys to, police said.

"The Oakland Police Department remains committed to addressing illicit drug activity and encourages community members to report suspicious or unlawful activity," authorities said in the statement on Monday.
