Mayor Cuts the Ribbon for City's New Permit Center

The process for getting a planning or building permit in Alameda is getting a bit more convenient — and comfortable.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday marked the completion of the city's new Permit Center in Room 190, on the ground floor of Alameda City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Ave.

Beginning Nov. 12, the Permit Center will be open for walk-in business Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Visitors will find a new, larger counter, a more comfortable and welcoming waiting area, public wi-fi, and a dedicated workstation for self-help permit histories and online permits.
