Oakland Ballers To Celebrate Championship With Parade Sunday. Here's What To Know

OAKLAND, CA — The Oakland Ballers will celebrate their record-breaking season that ended with the ball club's first championship Sunday with a parade and community celebration in the Bay Area.

The celebration will begin at 1 p.m. with a rally where Mayor Barbara Lee, other city officials, Oakland Baller coaches and the team's catcher, Tyler Lozano, will speak to attendees. The team will then parade around Raimon Park from 2 to 2:45 p.m.

Team officials say a celebration featuring food trucks and activities from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oakland rapper JWalt and Richmond rapper Fijiana will be performing at the event, according to team officials.

The Oakland Ballers won their first championship last month, defeating the Idaho Falls Chukars in a best-of-five series. In just the team's second season, they broke the Pioneer League's modern era record for wins in a season by a ball club, going 73-23.

“When we began our inaugural season last year, we promised Oakland that we’d always put the fans first, and that we’d make Oakland a championship city once again," Oakland Ballers Co-Founder Paul Freedman said in a statement. "Together with our fans, we have shown the world what Oakland can do when we come together, dream big and put community first."
