Police Log: Rash of Auto Break-Ins, Live Ammo Found on Bridge, Indecent Exposure, Stolen Cars

Clusters of auto burglaries were reported in the West End and close to Park Street.

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log Jan. 1-5. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 1

Domestic violence — A 31-year-old Alameda man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon after he threw his live-in girlfriend down a flight of stairs and tried to hit another person who intervened with a golf club, police said.

Domestic violence — A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of spousal battery and public intoxication after he pushed his wife to the ground during an argument, according to police reports.

Auto theft — A vehicle was stolen from the 300 block of Tideway Drive.

Ammo found — A woman found four rounds of live ammunition on he Bay Farm Island Bridge during her morning walk. In a separate incident, a woman found a bullet on her driveway on Buena Vista Avenue.

THURSDAY, JAN. 2

Auto thefts — Vehicles were reported stolen from the 900 block of Shorepoint Court and the 300 block of Central Avenue.

Vehicle burglaries — Thieves broke into parked vehicles in the 300 block of Central Avenue and the 300 block of Tideway Drive and stole various items.

Petty theft — A purse was stolen at the Safeway supermarket at South Shore Center after its owner absent-mindedly left it in a shopping cart.

FRIDAY, JAN. 3

Vandalism — A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, trespassing and vandalism after he broke basement windows of a Taylor Avenue home and entered the basement, police said. The man appeared to be under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant, the report said.

Auto recovery — A car that had been reported stolen in San Leandro was located in the 1600 block of Stanton Street.

SATURDAY, JAN. 4

Vehicle incidents — One or more persons broke windows on two vehicles in the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue and another vehicle in the 600 block of Buena Vista. Items were stolen in two of the break-ins.

DUI arrest — A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of Doolittle and Island Drive about 12:45 a.m.

Indecent exposure — A man exposed himself to a male victim by suddenly pulling his shorts down around his knees in a Central Avenue public park about 3:15 p.m.

SUNDAY, JAN. 5

Vehicle incidents — Thieves broke into and/or took items from three vehicles parked in the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue and two vehicles in the 1500 block of Everett Street.

ID theft — Someone used an Alameda resident's credit information to make unauthorized purchases at Kohl's department store.
