Scammers Calling Alameda Residents, Police Warn

The scammers claim that residents owe the City money for permits.

ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda authorities are warning of scammers claiming to be city employees who call to request payments for permit applications.

The callers request payments for permit fees, saying these are required under the permit center's new system, according to the Alameda Police Department.

Officials said Thursday that the city does not call permit applicants to request payments. Anyone who gets a scam call should not provide any personal information.
