Street Flooding, Hail In Alameda As Wild Weather Week Continues

Patch readers share their photos of soggy January.

ALAMEDA, CA —Since late December, wave after wave of storms have hit Alameda, and this week has been no different.

John Baskett snapped a photo of street flooding on Fernside Boulevard on Monday, as an atmospheric river flowed through the Bay Area. The rain fell so fast that it overwhelmed storm sewers.

Tuesday brought a new level of weather craziness as a thunderstorm moved through, dropping stinging hail on everyone outdoors. Nick Stellato took photos of the hail at Ballena Isle Marina.

No damage was reported from the small hail.

At 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, about a third of an inch of rain had fallen at Oakland International Airport in the previous 24 hours. But brace yourself for Wednesday, as another wave of moisture is scheduled to hit. "An atmospheric river is anticipated to hit northern California up through the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday. All told, 3-7 inches of precipitation is expected to fall across the state in the next few days."
