Suspect Arrested In Shooting Behind Alameda Pizza Restaurant

A woman was riding in an SUV when shot in the leg on Central Avenue, police said.

ALAMEDA, CA —A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting Wednesday that left a woman injured, Alameda police said, and investigators are now trying to piece together evidence of the suspect's movements before and after the shooting

The shooting was reported about 3:20 p.m. in the area of Webster Street and Central Avenue.

Police were advised of a white SUV last seen traveling eastbound on Central Avenue with a possible victim and quickly located the vehicle, which had among its passengers a female with a single gunshot wound to the leg.

It was determined that the shooting was in the parking lot behind Mountain Mike's Pizza at 714 Central Ave., and a possible suspect, seen on video surveillance walking through the Neptune Plaza Shopping Center, was identified.

The suspect was located in the area of Third and Brush streets about 4:30 p.m.

"It was determined that the suspected party was involved in the events that occurred in the parking lot an hour prior," police said.

The man was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The weapon, however, has not been found.

Police are working to determine what took place before and after the shooting, particularly the route the man took when traveling from Webster and Central to Third and Brush.

The suspect, 6-foot-2 and 135 pounds, is believed to have been wearing a white, red, and blue color-blocked styled shirt with dark-colored shorts, and possibly traveling by foot.
