Wind Gusts Up to 50 MPH Reported, Many Areas Lose Power

National Weather Service officials reported gusts of wind exceeding 50 mph at some locations, including the San Francisco and Oakland international airports, Sunday evening.
The Alameda County Fire Department reported around 10 p.m. that it had responded to a building façade that was detached by high winds at a shopping center at 5600 Bay Street in Emeryville.
Wind advisories have been issued for the Bay Bridge and the Benicia-Martinez Bridge in Contra Costa County, according to the California Highway Patrol. Drivers are being advised to use caution.
Elsewhere in the Bay Area, the winds caused numerous power outages and downed power lines.
In San Francisco, city Public Works officials have reported a number of calls for downed trees.
The National Weather Service forecasted blustery conditions with westerly winds of 15 to 25 mph to continue through early Monday. Gusts of up to 35 mph are possible, according to the forecast.
The strongest winds were expected to be felt Sunday evening and early Monday morning near the coast and on the eastern slopes of mountain ranges.
Areas above 2000 feet could see gusts of up to 45 mph for a few hours, according to weather service officials.
