Girls Empowerment Conference Seek To Inspire Youths
The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation will hold the conference at three locations: L.A., Altadena and Hacienda Heights.

ALTADENA, CA — The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation is hoping to inspire young girls in the area to become successful women through an empowerment conference held at several sites across the county this weekend.
The department will hold its seventh annual “I Matter: Girls Empowerment Conference” on Saturday at three L.A. County park locations, including one in Altadena. Organizers said the conference wants to “inspire young girls to pursue their dreams and educate them on becoming successful and powerful women in a global society.”
The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to girls ages 12 to 18.

Mikaila Ulmer, CEO and founder of Me and the Bees Lemonade, will be the keynote speaker for the conference, organizers said.
A lunch party and several interactive workshops will also take place throughout the day.

The three sites hosting the conference are:
- Earvin Magic Johnson Park in Los Angeles;
- Loma Alta Park in Altadena;
- Hacienda Heights Community Center in Hacienda Heights.
Free transportation will be provided to the conference from several county park sites:
- Castaic Sports Complex in Castaic;
- Jackie Robinson Park in Littlerock;
- El Cariso Park in Sylmar;
- George Lane Park in Quartz Hill;
- Mona Park in Compton;
- East Rancho Dominguez Park in East Compton.
