High Fire Danger Prompts Closure Of Chaney Trail Gate
Hikers and campers won't be able to use Chaney Trail in Altadena for the next several days.

ALTADENA, CA — Hikers and campers hoping to use Chaney Trail in Altadena will have to wait a couple of days at the U.S. Forest Service will close the roadway’s gate for several days.
The closure is in effect from Thursday, at 8 p.m., through Sunday, at 6 a.m., according to the Altadena Sheriff’s Station. Red flag conditions in the area have raised the fire danger levels to “extreme,” according to the Forest Service.
Extreme fire conditions prohibit visitors from starting a stove or campfire, according to the agency. Certain recreation areas and facilities are also subject to closure during the heightened fire danger level.
