• Convicted Felon Arrested in Apple Valley for Domestic Violence; Firearms and Body Armor Seized (vvng.com) — Apple Valley deputies arrested a 65-year-old local man after a reported domestic violence incident on Shirwaun Road led to allegations of kidnapping, threats, and weapons violations. Investigators later seized multiple firearms, ammunition, and body armor from his residence. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Victor Valley Station or submit anonymous tips through We-Tip.
   

• Lewis Center students to chat with astronauts aboard space station (vvdailypress.com) — Apple Valley students from the Academy for Academic Excellence will get a rare chance next March to speak directly with astronauts aboard the International Space Station via amateur radio. Partnering with a San Bernardino school, they’ll spend months studying space science and radio technology to prepare thoughtful questions. Community viewing events are planned so families can share the experience.
   

• Congress' task: Find better ways for government to recruit AI talent (union-bulletin.com) — Apple Valley residents are represented in Congress by Rep. Jay Obernolte, who is co-sponsoring a bipartisan bill to overhaul how the federal government recruits and trains artificial intelligence experts. The AI Talent Act would create specialized tech hiring teams, shared candidate pools, and skills-based assessments to help agencies compete with the private sector and strengthen in-house AI capabilities nationwide.
