Police Blotter: Man Accused of Punching Girlfriend at Mall

The Arcadia Police Department also dealt with a man who keyed another man's car in a fit of road rage.

For the period of May 6-12, the responded to 937 calls for service, 99 of which required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Suspected Methamphetamine User

At 12:43 a.m. on May 6, an officer made contact with a man seen walking on Huntington Drive near the 210 freeway on-ramps. The 25-year-old man was allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine. The officer arrested him and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Bank Fraud

A woman filed a fraud report May 7 alleging someone charged approximately $32,000 to her Bank of America and Chase credit card accounts. The victim has no idea how her personal information was compromised.

Car Accident

A driver was making a left turn from east Campus Drive onto northbound Santa Anita Avenue just before 6 p.m. on May 7. He hit a curb and then struck a wall east of the curb line. No major injuries were reported.

False Registration Sticker

At about 1:46 a.m. on May 8, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a black Honda Civic for not having a front license plate. A records check revealed the vehicle had expired registration; however, the rear license plate displayed a current year registration sticker. The 24-year-old driver was arrested for False Display of Registration and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Car Keyed in Fit of Road Rage

While driving on Duarte Road on May 8, a man changed lanes to avoid hitting a trash truck parked in the street. When he came to a stop at Baldwin Avenue, the driver who was behind him approached him, upset over the lane change. The driver allegedly pulled out a key from his pocket and made a 24-inch scratch along the side of the man's vehicle. The suspect reportedly got back into his vehicle and sped off out of sight.

Unlicensed Driver

At 8:47 a.m. on May 9, a man driving a blue BMW reportedly failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Huntington Drive because he was talking on his cell phone. An investigation revealed he never had a license. The 39-year-old man was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Laptop Stolen from Bedroom

A woman who lives on the 000 block of West Norman Avenue discovered her laptop computer missing from her bedroom nightstand May 9. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) entered the bedroom through an unlocked window. No one saw or heard anything suspicious.

Outstanding Misdemeanor Warrant

Shortly after 1:39 a.m. on May 10, an officer observed a black Jetta with expired registration tags, and conducted a traffic stop on Baldwin Avenue at Fairview Avenue. A records check revealed the 31-year-old woman had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Domestic Violene at the Mall

At about 4:20 p.m. on May 10, an officer responded to the parking lot of at the regarding a physical fight between a boyfriend and girlfriend. An argument allegedly escalated, and the boyfriend struck his girlfriend in the face, causing visible injuries. The boyfriend reportedly also fought off a security guard who tried to intervene. The 23-year-old man was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Shoplifting

At approximately 7:48 a.m. on May 11, an officer responded to Macy's at the Santa Anita Mall regarding a theft investigation. A woman allegedly removed the price tags off of several items of clothing, concealed the merchandise inside multiple bags and exited the store without paying. The 41-year-old suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Stolen Video Game Systems

Around 8:18 p.m. on May 12, an officer responded to the 000 block of North First Avenue regarding a residential burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) entered the location and stole two video game systems worth approximately $700. The victim explained he left his house without locking the front door. No one saw or heard anything suspicious.

Vehicle Burglary

Shortly after 6:45 a.m. on May 12, an officer responded the 000 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim discovered unknown suspect(s) stole his laptop computer and iPod from inside his vehicle, and fled undetected. It appeared the key hole of the driver's side door had been punched. Dusting the area for latent fingerprints met with negative results.
