ARCADIA, CA — Strong, gusty winds will buffet parts of the Southland Tuesday before weakening this afternoon, forecasters said.

High pressure building in the north will bring gusty north-to-northeast winds to portions of Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles and Orange counties, according to the National Weather Service.

In L.A. County, a wind advisory indicating winds of at least 35 miles per hour will be in force until 3 p.m. in the San Gabriel Mountains and the Santa Clarita Valley, and until noon in the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area.

The weather service warned that high winds would make for tough driving, especially for high-profile vehicles and vehicles towing trailers. It said the most challenging roadways would include Interstate 5 and highways 14, 33 and 126 in the San Gabriel Mountains and Santa Clarita Valley and, in the Santa Monicas, Kanon Road and Topanga, Malibu and Decker canyons.
