Video: Former Santa Anita Pastry Chef Opens Up Bakery in Arcadia

Pastry chef Colt Cheyne is the new man behind the cakes and pastries at Monrovia Bakery.

Cheyne spent nine years as a pastry chef at Santa Anita Park and re-opened Monrovia Bakery nine days ago after buying the business from the Mueller family, who ran it for decades.

Cheyne specializes in homemade pastries and he said he plans to offer French-style desserts like chocolate pyramid mousses and 12-inch fruit tarts to go along with some of the bakery's traditional fare.

"We're trying to do it much more classical," he said.
