UPDATE: Furlough Days Approved For Teachers in Baldwin Park
The Baldwin Park School District Board discussed and approved a proposal that would save more than $343,000.
At least seven furlough days were imposed for teachers and staff of the, after a proposal presented to the Board of Education was approved.
BPUSD will save $ 343,366 dollars, according to a staff report included in the agenda.
Although the document does not specify which days will be imposed as furlough days, the District's website mentions that it will close classrooms starting on Friday, August 31.

Other programmed days in 2012 would be September 28, November 26, and December 20 and 21. In 2013, the dates will be February 4 and March 28.
"Due to the continuing state budget challenges and continued cuts to public education, it has become necessary for all District employees to take seven unpaid furlough days," said a press release posted on www.bpusd.net
