Another Heat Wave To Arrive In RivCo Next Week
Temperatures are expected to be a bit cooler Sunday following the year's first heat wave, before another scorcher arrives next week.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Temperatures are expected to be somewhat cooler Sunday following the first heat wave of the year, before another scorcher arrives in the middle of next week.
National Weather Service forecasters said it will still be unseasonably warm and urged residents to take protect themselves.
"Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun," the NWS advised. "Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke."

Riverside County officials said county cooling centers -- which generally open starting June 1 at community centers, libraries, senior centers and other locations countywide -- are not ready.

Instead, officials urged seniors to remain in their homes with the air conditioning turned up, adding that the Riverside County Office of Aging is prepared to help seniors pay their utility bills.

Seniors lacking air conditioning at home can also call 211 to see if other assistance is available, health officials said.
Meteorologists said another spike into the 90s for most of the region is predicted Tuesday and Wednesday, as a ridge of high pressure builds over the region.
