Details Released In Fiery Crash That Killed BMW Driver: Moreno Valley

Arriving deputies found a BMW 3 Series sedan fully engulfed in flames.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A motorist died in a fiery crash in Moreno Valley over the weekend, and authorities have released details.

The fire was reported at 9:37 a.m. Sunday on Perris Boulevard, between Heacock Street and Canyon Vista Road, according Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Chad Craig.

Arriving deputies found a BMW 3 Series sedan fully engulfed in flames, which Riverside County firefighters put out, Craig said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The investigation revealed the BMW was traveling southbound on Perris Boulevard at a high rate of speed," he said. "For an unknown reason, the BMW veered to the right, struck a curb, and launched onto the dirt embankment where it continued for approximately 200 feet before striking a tree."

It was not known yet whether drugs and/or alcohol played a role in the crash, Craig said.
