DUI Checkpoint Planned This Weekend In Beaumont

BEAUMONT, CA — The Beaumont Police Department announced it will hold a DUI/driver's license checkpoint Friday beginning at 6 p.m. The checkpoint will operate inside city limits until 1 a.m. Saturday, according to the department.

Further information about the location was not disclosed, though the agency reported that checkpoints are operated "based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests."

During the checkpoint, officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Additionally, some prescription and over-the-counter medications can interfere with driving.

"If you take prescription drugs, particularly those with a driving or operating machinery warning on the label, you might be impaired enough to get a DUI," the department reported. "Marijuana can also be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs, and can result in a DUI."
