RIVERSIDE, CA — It's the most wonderful time of the year...for protecting yourself from the flu, Kaiser Permanente Riverside County says. The organization is sponsoring two holiday events: one, where free flu shots will be given to anyone who wants one, and another, where health and wellness will be promoted to all attendees.

On November 22, Kaiser Permanente will participate in the Festival of Lights at The Historic Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Downtown Riverside. From 3 to 8 p.m., the nonprofit organization invites visitors to its health booth on University Avenue between Market and Main Streets for fun activities, no-cost flu vaccines for children age 8 and older and health screenings for Kaiser Permanente members.

The 33rd Annual Festival of Lights celebrations will be an opportunity to promote a healthy holiday season, a spokesperson for the sponsor of the 33rd Annual Festival of Lights switch-on ceremony and the “Next Gen: Empowering Healthy Futures” ice rink said.

A second event, slated for December 8, will be sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, in partnership with the City of Riverside and the Riverside County Office of Education, at the downtown ice rink. The “Next Gen: Empowering Healthy Futures” event will feature 100 middle school students, invited in advance, from select local schools.

They will engage in physical activity through ice skating, enjoy giveaways, and participate in inspiring conversations with Kaiser Permanente Riverside County leaders, nurses, and doctors to learn about careers in healthcare.

Sammy Totah, senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente Riverside County, discussed the holiday health initiative in a released statement.

“We’re proud to be part of these joyful community traditions while also supporting health and education,” Totah said. “Whether it's offering essential health services or inspiring the next generation of health care professionals, we are committed to meeting people where they are and making a meaningful impact this season and beyond."
