Police Search For Beaumont Man Suspected Of Lighting Partner On Fire

BEAUMONT, CA — A Beaumont man suspected of dousing his domestic partner with lighter fluid and then lighting her on fire was being sought, police announced over the weekend.

Nicholas Norman, 38, is wanted in Friday's alleged attack, and Monday morning jail records show he has not been booked.

According to the Beaumont Police Department, an investigation began Friday morning when a woman told officers that her friend was lit on fire and taken by Norman to a home in the Olivewood community.

Officers went to the residence and found the victim with serious burns to over 30% of her body, the police department reported. Due to her injuries, she was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

Detectives served a search warrant Friday night at a home in the 600 block of Palo Alto Avenue in Beaumont, "where evidence associated with the attack was located," according to the police department.

Norman was not found. He is wanted on charges of attempted murder, mayhem, arson and torture, the department reported.
