Victim Identified in 710 Crash

Woman died when her car slammed into a parked big rig.

The coroner’s office today identified a 23-year-old woman who was killed when her car slammed into an unoccupied big rig stopped on the shoulder of the Long Beach (710) Freeway.

The woman was identified as Signal Hill resident Megan Rexroad, according to Lt. Dave Smith of the coroner’s office.

The crash happened at about 2:35 a.m. Thursday on the northbound side of the freeway, just south of Del Amo Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Rexroad was at the wheel of a 2008 Honda that veered onto the right shoulder and struck the left rear of a 2013 tractor-trailer combo, the CHP reported.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
