From $2 To $30,000: Solano County Has Money You're Owed

SOLANO COUNTY - More than 900 Solano County residents and businesses have unclaimed money - worth more than $284,000 - that is owed to them by the County, according to information released Friday.

The County says funds that remain unclaimed for three years become their property after proper notice.

The Solano County Auditor-Controller's Office has compiled an unclaimed money database to help residents.

The department is encouraging everyone to search the database, which should make it easy to see if they have money waiting for them.

“Unclaimed payments range from $2 to more than $30,000 – so I encourage everyone to take a look – you never know,” says Simona Padilla-Scholtens, Solano County Auditor-Controller.

The County offers the following steps to see if you've got money sitting in an account with your name attached to it:

(1) Visit www.SolanoCounty.com and click on the “Unclaimed Money” link under “Popular Links.”

(2) Search for your last name or business name in the unclaimed money database

(3) Fully complete the “Unclaimed Money Affidavit” and mail to the Auditor-Controller’s Office
