3 Benicia Schools Go On Lockdown Following False Threats

BENICIA, CA — Three schools in Benicia went on lockdown Tuesday following a threatening phone call, police said.

The threats turned out to be false.

Police dispatch received a call Tuesday from a third party saying "a message of an impending threat of violence at Benicia High School had been received," the Benicia Police Department said.

In the interest of safety, the high and middle schools went on lockdown, along with nearby Mary Farmar Elementary School. The lockdown was lifted by 9:45 a.m.

Police conducted a "thorough" search and determined that no threat existed, police said.

Detectives are determining the origination of the call and its motivation, according to police.
