3rd House Fire in 2 Days Knocked Down In Nearby Vallejo

Firefighters knocked down a one-alarm blaze Thursday at a home in Vallejo, officials said. It was the 3rd recent house fire in the city.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- Firefighters knocked down a one-alarm blaze Thursday morning at a home in Vallejo, fire officials said.

According to Vallejo Fire Department spokesman Kevin Brown, the fire was reported at 12:11 a.m. May 18 in the 400 block of Maple Avenue.

The single-family house at the address was vacant and a neighbor reported the fire, Brown said.

Firefighters knocked down the blaze and are currently working on overhaul operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Brown said.

This was the second house fire in Vallejo Thursday morning, and third in two days, according to Brown.

At 12:18 a.m. firefighters had taken control of a fire that broke out at a house on Newcastle Drive shortly before midnight. That fire was caused by cooking that was left unattended.

On Wednesday at 2:20 a.m., firefighters responded to a two-alarm house fire in the 600 block of Laurel Street. Unattended candles are suspected of causing that fire, according to Brown.
