Bay Area Home Catches Fire Twice in Under 1 Day
BREAKING: According to the county fire marshal, the home was very old and the methods used in building it are no longer allowed.

BAY AREA, CA -- When a house caught fire in the Contra Costa County city of Antioch early on the morning of Jan. 24, it was the second time in under 24 hours that there was a blaze in the home, according to Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials.
The first fire occurred on Monday, Jan. 23, when firefighters responded to a two-story home located at 406 H St. at 1:21 p.m. on reports of a fire on the second floor. Crews were able to extinguish that blaze.
But then, around 4 a.m. the next morning, firefighters again were called to the residence on reports of another fire. Once on scene, firefighters were able to knock down the fire in about 45 minutes, fire officials said.

According to Fire Marshal Robert Marshall, the home was very old and the methods used in constructing it are no longer allowed because of the way flames can remain hidden in concealed spaces.
The cause of the first fire is still under investigation, but Marshall said the second fire was likely caused by the first one.
