Benicia-based Elizalde Construction was recently awarded Measure C and Gas Tax funds for the project, under which Benicia is to replace portions of First Street. Work started this week and is anticipated to be completed by the end of April in time for the beginning of the Benicia Farmers Market.
Specific work items include replacing portions of damaged brick pattern sidewalks, curbs, and upgrading all Americans with Disability Act accessibility ramps to current standards along the entire length of First Street.
