Background

On December 7, 2021, the Benicia City Council approved funding from capital improvement funds for the FY2021-22 Citywide Micro-surfacing Project. The City of Benicia is fortunate to have received additional funding from Measure C combined with gas tax revenue to proceed with this project.

On April 19, 2022, the City Council approved a $688,663.50 construction contract with American Asphalt and Repair, Inc. of Hayward, CA, for this micro-surfacing project.

The City's Pavement Management Program (PMP) evaluates and applies cost-effective pavement treatments to the 200 lane-miles of city streets and was prepared by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's consulting engineer.

The PMP specifies micro-surfacing as a recommended treatment for the streets in this project. Additional information is available at www.ci.benicia.ca.us/roads.
