Benicia PD Assumes Dispatching For Cal Maritime Police Dept.
Until July 9, San Jose State University was dispatching for the department at Vallejo-based California State University Maritime Academy.
BENICIA, CA — The Benicia Police Department this past week assumed responsibility for dispatching California State University Maritime Academy Police Department officers. The Cal Maritime Police Department, based at the academy in Vallejo, had been dispatched by San Jose State University until Monday, July 9.
Benicia police spokeswoman Irma Widjojo said having the maritime academy police dispatched locally will enable more effective emergency response, and greater regional collaboration.
The California State University Maritime Academy is the only maritime academy on the West Coast.
